2015!!!

2015 has been a very good year and I am sad to see it coming to an end. I hope the year finishes in an exciting and happy mood so that 2015 can be well remembered and celebrated. But instead of thinking about the year ending let's talk about something fun that I have done at school this year.
This year we had art week, which was super fun because we got do heaps of fun painting and mucking about. Although it is called art week it lasted for about 4 weeks because we had to plan and prepare the classroom so that it could look not only beautiful but better than rm11 and 12's as well.

My favorite part about art week was probably ripping down all the old paintings (especially the lego people).

This year I think that the big day out will probably be at either zealandia or maybe junglerama again or if the school decides to maybe let us have fun then there is a 99.9 % chance that we might go bowling or something.

My favorite big day out was probably the sport day at junglerama or possibly even zealandia cause we got to hang out with friends and just talk.
What was your favorite previous big day out?

College!

So next year i will be going to St Mary's and i'm so nervous yet excited at the same time. I am not liking the idea of being the youngest ones in the school but i mean there isn't much i can do.I know that i will have the advantage of having my sister there to help but i am still quite nervous about finding my way around the school and meeting new people or just overall getting through the first couple weeks. Next year i want to improve in my maths and writing so that i can get my grades higher every year. (which is probably not gonna happen) Im looking forward to meeting new people and maybe joining the cheer team that they might start at SMC. I also think that i will enjoy catching the bus into town and having a bit more freedom if you know what i mean.
Anyway how long until you go to college?

book week stuff!

Last week was book week and we got to do a bunch of different activities related to books theses are some of my favorites.

BOOK CHARACTER DAY

On friday we got to dress up as a character from a book and parade around the courts. I was awesome seeing everyone's costumes and all the creative ways they had been put together. I went as melman from madagascar.Siena, Kelsey and Amelia were the same thing because we all wore our giraffe janimals.

SIX ACTIVITIES

Although it is still carrying on this week i have really enjoyed doing the three fun activities like making a model on minecraft and reading a book to a small child. I have almost finished all six activities but i'm still going to do an extra one for fun with kelsey, veronica and abby.

MR C WONKA BAR

It didn't count as a task but it was still really fun... we made Mr Cunningham his costume for book character day. All the teachers had to go as something from a roald dahl book so all the intermediate teachers went as chocolate bars from charlie and the chocolate factory. A couple of people (including me) got to work and made an awesome, glittery chocolate bar costume. I bet Miss Bolger loved it when Mr Cunningham dropped all his glitter around the school... ;)

What was your favorite part of book week?

AFL

We started a new thing called AFL (australian football league) on thursdays. Honestly i dont know much about it because... well i don't know i just have no idea what it is, except that you kick a ball and yeah that's about it. We learnt some quotes and stuff to help us remember how to kick the ball probably like...
 -Laces away from faces
-Pretend you're flicking mud of your shoe
-one cross pointing to the sky and the other to the floor

And yeah that's practically all i know.
As you can probably tell i'm not very good at it so far and i don't think i will be improving much as the lessons continue.

do you like AFL?

Cherub

I am obsessed with a book series called CHERUB. At the moment im reading book 11 and its really sad but really good. The books are based around a group of kids whose parents have died. The children were recruited to join a secret organization called CHERUB (no one knows what CHERUB stands for ) and they go undercover to stop lots of different thing like... bike gangs, drug dealers and more. This organization was made because Adults never suspect that kids are spying on them. For example if a grown, bulky man came to your door saying hes just been in an accident would you open the door let alone help him... no. but with kids its different. You open the door and there's a little kid saying there's been a car accident and that his parents aren't breathing... you let him in  and BOOM he knocks you unconscious and searches your house.
The cherub books are very well written and there so good you just cant stop reading them.
I really recommend this series for more mature people.

What book series do you recommend?

Future Job

Hi!!! Im honestly im not quite sure what I want to do when im older because I have  a lot of different interests. Im mainly interested in stuff with medicine or science.
I went around asking people how they pictured me when I was older... unsurprisingly they all said I was probably going to end up working at a hospital or something similar. Although I already know some things about first aid and stuff im going to be doing a first aid course in the red cross soon. (Im so excited!!!)
Im not quite sure what I would have to do in college but im guessing it propably includes a bit of genetics (science)

ART!!!

Hi...
For the past couple of weeks we have been doing art for a special art exhibition that happened in week 8. At first having to do less work to do more art was really fun but then it started getting really boring and i just wanted to go back to normal boring school work. I was really excited to do the room 8 safety video but we didn't really have enough time when we realized that there were a lot of big things to be done.

Me and Abby started our own art choice on like the last week and we thought it wasn't going to be good (well at least i did)  but then it turned out amazing!!!! I LOVE IT!!! here is a pic...

These pics are from my favourite classes... (btw I forgot to take pictures of room 10, but it was one of my favourite classes too)

POEM!!

This term we have been focusing on writing poems. So this week we were told to post our favorite poems. ( Written by ourselves) This is mine...

THERE ONCE WAS A LONELY DUCK
WHO COULDN'T MAKE A BUCK
HE SAT AND CRIED
CAUSE ALTHOUGH HE TRIED
HE COULDN'T HELP BUT SUCK

I like it because it has rhythm and cause I don't know i just do do.
Limericks are my favorite type of poems because they are fun to write and they are usually short and funny.

Whats your favorite type of poem?

Vincent van Gogh

Vincent van Gogh was a famous artist who's painting would be easily recognized by many people.
He is my favorite artist!!!
He was born in 1853 and died in 1890. He is usually remembered by his smudged sky painting thingy. Alot of his painting included love.

INTERESTING FACT
Vincent van Gogh went coo - coo one day and cut off his left ear. I dont know why but he just did. So.... yeah.

These are my favorite paintings he's done.

SPORT FEST! (RESULTS)

On Wednesday we had the regional sport fest tournament. I was in dodge ball... I honestly thought it would suck but was surprised when i had heaps of fun!!
The rules were quite easy to get used to and the excitement of playing against other schools was awesome.
In the end we won 3 games, lost 1 and tied 1. The people that we lost against were amazing. We had no chance of beating them.
I think they should do it again next year although i wont be there.

Sport! (expectations)

Sorry this post is a bit late but i totally forgot it was due in by wed. Anyway tomorrow we have a sport tournament. Im not really excited because i dont really like the sport that i got put into.
Well i like dodgeball but i'm not really good at it so i don't want to just spoil the whole thing for everyone else. Even though i'm not with my best friends i think i will still enjoy it. It might be a bit more difficult because were playing by different rules.

FLAG!!

Hi! This week we had to chose 4/40 flags from the possible new designs. I chose numbers 4,7,10,30.

This is 4...
One of the 40 finalist flag designs.

This is 7...
One of the 40 finalist flag designs.

This is 10...
One of the 40 finalist flag designs.

And this is 30...
One of the 40 finalist flag designs.

I think i like number 4 the best because it includes the 4 stars and all the original colours. Yet it doesn't look so much like the Australian flag.
Here are some pros and cons on changing the flag.

Pros ~
People won't confuse the new zealand and the australian flags anymore.
We can add something maori to represent the original new zealand culture.
Sometimes its good to restart and refresh.
Cons~
Soldiers fought under the original flag.
Some people may not like it.
people might not agree on which flag to chose.

I think we should change our flag... do you???

ART!

Güete Tag, Hola, Bonos dies, Bonjour and welcome to my blog!
Lately we have been doing some art and today im here to talk well... write about it. Im not trying to brag but I think that my favorite type of art is blending colours because its the only type of art I can do well. the favorite artwork i have done this year is... our Aztec mask's. I did a sugar skull. A sugar skull comes from the day of the dead in mexico. We had to collage all the colours including the white for our mask! I HATE COLLAGING! (cause my fingers get all dirty and sticky and it takes ages) anyway once the real mask was finished we cut them out and stuck them on a brown piece of A3 paper. we then had to decorate the paper with either Aztec symbols or Aztec patters/designs. I think mine turned out pretty good even though it took me ages to finish.

Whats your favorite type of art???

Inviting characters to dinner!

For this weeks blog post we have to write about who we would invite to dinner.  You must invite 2 people (one real, one fictional). Seeing as we can invite dead people for my real person i would probably invite my grandma (mums side) because i miss her so much and it would make me feel so happy to just hear her say one more word to me. I would probably invite Matt Bomer as my fictional character... like who wouldn't!!! ( he's from my favourite tv show. That's him down there)

QUESTIONS FOR GRAN
1. Whats heaven like
2. What was your secret to that amazing strawberry salad
3. Do you miss us

QUESTIONS FOR MATT
1. Why didn't you tell peter!!!!!
2. What are you going to do when your free
3. Will you marry me plz! (jk)

family memory!

Hey!!! This might be a really long post because this week we got asked to post about a family member or family memory that we have, and... well i have a good one. Trust me its worth reading.
So on the 27th of December (the day before my sisters birthday which she had plans for and then had to cancel because of this trip.) my whole family went on a road trip to ... um.... i forgot but oh well we went somewhere because the Ambassador of Argentina invited us to a polo game on the beach.
On our way there we drove past an abandoned house with a big shed outside. We stopped for a moment and instantly had to drive away because of the horrible stink coming from the house.
We kept driving and driving and everybody was starting to get bored. When we finally got to the Ambassador's house we were quite happy to see that the house was really nice and that it was in pretty good conditions.  It had two big glass doors leading straight to the beach. Next to this house was a practically identical one which we were hoping was meant for us. A woman walked up to us and offered us a ride to our house. I was a bit disappointed to know that the one next to the Ambassadors wasn't meant for us (seeing as it would be pointless to drive 5 m but there was nothing i could do about it so we got into the woman's van and drove for around 5 minutes until she stopped next to the house. You know what! I don't even know if i can call it a house ! It was more like a couple of wooden planks nailed together on a piece of terrain. It was the 'house' that we drove past before. Yup that abandoned one. The second we saw it my sister and i just looked at each other and started laughing. Not kidding we thought it was a joke. "It couldn't be!!" we thought. But no. It wasnt a joke. We had to spend the night there. After a while we accepted the fact that it was the only choice we had and went to explore inside. We got inside and attempted to close the door behind us like anybody else would have done (right?) but the first problem of the day decided to make itself known. (the door wouldn't close)  we ignored it and kept exploring the kitchen was like a big hall with a bunch of dirty cupboards lined up on the edges. The next room was just a simple square with a bed on it. No sheets just a mattress on some wooden planks. The room looked ok until i realized that there was a big black circle on the carpeted floor. It was as if someone had purposely started a fire in the middle of the room. The rest of the rooms were very similar so im not gonna go through them all because it would take ages. One of the similarities between these rooms were the closets. well not really the closets but the things inside them. There were at least 2 creepy, old dolls in each closet. Some were missing eyes, some were missing limbs. I was so creeped out. We got a bit grossed out by the inside so we went to explore outside instead. there was a shed with clouds of flies swarming around it. It smelt SOOO bad! We mainly suspected that the smell was coming from the dead mother pig of the two little piglets that were roaming around the house. We walked around some more until we heard something that made us jump in surprise. GUNSHOTS!!! dun dun dun.......... we ran back to the car and drove off as fast as we could. And when i say we drove i mean we drove all the way back to wellington. Yup thats it. My favorite family memory. BTW i didnt expect it to be this long.

whats your favorite family memory?

Holidays

I didn't really do much in the holidays because i just like staying home and sleeping in. But here is one of the few things i did...
In the first week me and siena went to the big air holiday program. (Cloe's friend and sienas sister came to)  By the way big air is the gym that siena and i train at for cheerleading. Anyway we did that which was really fun because we basically just had free time on the tramps for the whole 4 hours. Straight after the holiday program we went ice skating. I think im pretty ok at ice skating seeing as i can skate backwards and do a full turn, easily on the ice. We had so much fun that day.

If you want to see some pictures on this amazing day then go check out my instagram @merc_cheer.
Have you ever gone ice skating before? If you did was it fun? Sorry this post was kind of rushed but oh well!

This term we have been going to nairnville park to do different sports. the sports we have covered include... football, rugby, and gymnastics. I cant remember if we did any other sports if i missed one please comment what it was. Anyway my favorite sport so far has been gymnastics... obviously! I think i have improved most at rugby because i didn't know much about it before and they taught us a lot of techniques. I think we should do other sports like... badminton and hockey.

german

So German...
I mean i don't hate German but i definatly dont enjoy doing German most of the time. I think im ok at remembering the words and stuff but pronouncing the words is hard because heaps of the letters make different sounds when they are put next to each other in a word. I mostly enjoy trying to pronounce the words with my friends because it usually ends up being hilarious! I am properly not going to continue studying German in college as i am interested in other languages such as French.
Have you ever tried German?
if u haven't then i recommend u do because it is a very different and fun language.

The Boy In The Striped Pajamas!

The boy in the striped pajamas is a really sad book written by John Boyne. Its about an innocent little 9 year old boy who finds himself suddenly moving houses and leaving his friends for his dads job as a soldier. They moved to a place called Out -With. Here at the out with house Bruno ( the little boy/ Main Character) could see people, huts and a fence from his window so one day decided to go exploring. He found a boy named Shmuel whom he played with every day. ( except for rainy days). Well Im getting to carried away with myself so im going to stop cause other wise i would tell you the wholi story.
My favorite quote from the book is... 'The dot that became a speck that became blob that became a figure that became a boy.' this quote is said when Bruno starts getting closer to the fence in front of him/ when he is about to meet Shmuel for the first time.

I recommend this book for intermediate children because it might be to difficult for younger students to under stand most of the concepts in the book. This book was also made into a movie which i dont really recommend for younger viewers.

Galapagos Islands

For the last couple weeks we have been studying the Galapagos Islands. It has been very fun because I got to learn about animals that I didn't even know existed. Not only have we been studying the animals but we have also been learning about adaptation and evolution which is not as fun because I don't really like writing essays but still it can be a bit fun sometimes. Maybe we should study how the earth evolved instead of animals. Next term for social studies we should study how food is made.

Responsibility!!!

This year I am Milk monitor ,and well , that's it I don't have another responsibilities at school. I mean obviously I have task to do but other than that milk monitor is the only thing. So today ill talk to you about being milk monitor. Its not like the best thing ever but sometimes it can be pretty fun.
I like delivering the milk to other classrooms and sorting out the fridge when it gets messy. I don't really find anything about it difficult except trying to carry like 5 full milk boxes. That's pretty much what its like doing milk...

ASB!

The other day we had a guy called Vane come to give us a lecture about saving and earning money. It was really fun because Vane has really good humour which makes it really fun cause he's always playing around. he comes every year and does each classroom separately. Everybody loves him!
He told us about how me can earn and save money at our age. he taught us the exact same thing last year and the year before and the year before... and yet I enjoyed it heaps! I honestly don't think that I am very good with money because I spend ALOT!!! but at the same time I think I might be good with $ cause I am decently good at saving.

ART!

For the past 2 weeks (including this week) we have been working on a Maori based art with people from other classes. I am in a group with my friends Amelia and Siena. It has been really fun working with them on our "Maori Beginning"  legend. We finished it really fast because we didn't want to make it to complicated. I kind of regretted making it that simple when i saw everybody else though. But the rest of my group said that they didn't want to change it so i left as it was. I'm not saying it looks bad but i just think that we could have found a way to make it more unique and fun. I think that working between classes was a big success because it made people more eager to Finnish their work because you would get to spend art time with your friends. It might have slowed some people down a bit but other than that i think that it was fun.

This week i haven't really learnt much but i was really proud because i practiced my spelling words heaps and got 5/5  on my test . Other than that i mean i don't know....

Ohh yes thats it I learnt about cricket. Every single thing that people tell me about cricket counts as a new fact for me because i don't really like cricket... meaning that well, i know nothing about it.

I also learnt a couple new strategies in maths and yeah thats about it.

School!

School started around three weeks ago and it has been super fun because my friend and neighbour started St Bens this year. Not much has happened so far because were still sort of getting into the work mode. Well i don't know about everyone else but i know i am. I find the task system easy to understand as i have been using it for just over a year. But i don't like that different classrooms have almost completely different time tables. I am very happy to be in the same classroom as Kelsey this year but was very upset and disappointed when i found out that most of my friends like... Siena, Charlotte, Catherine, Amelia, etc. Honestly i think that the school/classroom is run well but i think that maybe people should be a bit nicer and more responsible with the teachers because i think that sometimes people can be quite rude to teachers.

Anyway i hope you enjoy the rest of your year.
